Selby & Friends opens the 2017 season celebrating the glorious diversity of piano trios. Youth & The Dance is presented by two of pianist/Artistic Director Kathryn Selby’s special chamber music friends, brilliant young Australian rising star, violinist Grace Clifford who is creating waves as she studies at the famed Curtis Institute in the US, and bravura cellist Clancy Newman.
Patrons will remember Grace from several years ago when she joined Selby & Friends on tour at the tender age of 14! Clancy Newman is well-known to Australian audiences from his amazing emotional and technical dexterity on the cello in addition to his brilliance as a young composer of note. Presenting youthful works by Beethoven and Saint-Saens, the program climaxes with the ever-popular ‘Dumky’ Trio by Dvořák. A season opener to truly relish!...
